Being a Zontian provides opportunities for members to work
on various service projects. We give of our time and our money to many organizations in the Cheyenne area as well as in the
international arena.
Every year our major fund raisers raise monies that are designated for:
. Local charitable
organizations
. International Service Projects
. Amelia Earhart Fellowships-In 1939, Zonta International established
this Scholarship Award to encourage women's entrance into what in those days were nontraditional fields for women.
Women
and girls have made great strides throughout the past century. Yet many difficult and critical issues continue to create barriers
to full equality. As we begin this new millennium: 70% of the world's 1.3 billion absolute poor are women; 2/3 of the illiterate
adults in the world are women;2/3 of the children not in school are girls; 60 million women who would be alive today are "missing"
because of violence associated with gender discrimination; women comprise 48% of the workforce, yet less than 5% hold senior
management positions and only 10% hold seats in the world's parliaments; every month of every year, over 40,000 women in developing
nations die from pregnancy related causes.
Is Zonta for You?
The first thing you need to do is decide
that a service club is for you. Ask yourself these questions:
. Do you have a sincere desire to help others in the community?
. Would you enjoy planning events that meet the civic, social, and educational needs of the
community?
. Can you
spare one lunch hour a month or one evening a month for regular meetings?
. Can you dedicate approximately 2-6 hours a
month to participate in local service projects?
. Do you enjoy meeting
other women and men and working together to achieve a common goal?
MEMBERSHIP
Invitations for membership are extended
